Indonesia is a popular market for TVS with established presence and the new Apache 200 will be a vital product taking on a host of offerings in the premium space.
South East Asia is an important market for TVS and the automaker retails almost its entire lineup there along with some market-specific models. Hence, the upcoming flagship Apache 200 will also be heading down there and was recently caught testing with heavy camouflage in Indonesia. Expected to share some striking details with the recently unveiled BMW G310R co-developed by BMW and TVS, the new generation Apache will be making its official debut early next year.
Inspired from the X21 Draken concept, the 2016 TVS Apache will be sharply styled and retains the interesting bits like the wavy alloy wheels and twin exhaust tips. The bike is expected to use a tubular frame underneath while power will come from a new 200cc 4-valve SOHC engine as per some reports. While it was rumoured that the all-new Apache will be a liquid-cooled motor, the recent spy shots suggest TVS has opted for an air-cooled engine along with an oil-cooler.
More recent spy shots have also revealed the instrument cluster on the new TVS Apache that now gets an all-digital unit with the tachometer extending up to 12,000 RPM and incorporates a gear indicator, speedometer, trip meters and a whole lot more. The console comes with a welcome note ‘Race On’ hinting towards the feisty performance and gets a service reminder light as well.
Mechanically, the TVS Apache 200 will come with telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear while front and rear disc brakes will be offered as standard and dual channel ABS as optional. In addition, the street-fighter gets an LED tail light cluster, clear lens indicators and an upright riding stance with the latter making it quite practical. The bike can also cruise at speeds up to 110-120 km/hr with comfort as per previous reports.
