The Fiat Qubo is an MPV sold in Europe that was recently caught on test in Maharashtra. The Pune registered model were running on permanent plates and the Italian automaker has no plans of introducing the model any time in India. However, it is not clear as to what was Fiat testing on the model. The possibilities range from new components, mechanicals, powertrain or possibly they could be here for global benchmarking purposes.
The Fiat Qubo MPV is a sub 4-metre model measuring 3.96-metres in length with boxy dimensions, sliding rear door and a rather different front fascia. Practicality happens to be the Qubo’s forte with 16 seat configurations, 2500-litre boot capacity and three different variants. Engine options on the MPV include a 1.4-litre FIRE petrol as well as the tried and tested 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel with power output ranging from 80-95 HP.
The MPV also comes loaded with a ton of features including a start-stop system, Bluetooth connectivity and rear parking sensors among other bits. Safety features include ABS, ESP, TPMS, front and side airbags and much more. The vehicle is Euro 6 compliant as well. At present, Fiat India’s concentration is on strengthening its existing products while the company’s next major launch will be the long awaited Jeep brand.
