The Volkswagen Express Service facility aims to reduce the service time on vehicles in order to provide improved convenience to customers.
Volkswagen India has been in the news for all the right reasons this week having announced the Rs. 720 crore investment for its upcoming compact sedan, followed by the import of the Polo and Golf 1.0-litre TSI models while reports are coming in of the powerful Polo GTi being launched by March 2016. Now, improving things in the after sales department, the German automaker announced its first ‘Express Service’ facility in the country that was launched at a dealership in Coimbatore.
The first such facility is located at Volkswagen Coimbatore and is in accordance with the brand’s global standards. The company states that the dealership has a state-of-the-art equipment workshop with 44 work bays and 75 parking bays which will enable servicing of more than 2500 cars in a month. An initiative targeted towards achieving a faster turnaround time for vehicle servicing, the new Express Service facility is designed to improve productivity and efficiency of technicians that will help offer more convenience to customers.
Globally available across several countries, the Volkswagen Express Service was initiated back in 2011 and has been setting up such centres globally that offer periodic and basic checks and changes including tyre rotation, filter replacement, battery checkup, and oil and filter change. The automaker stated that the aim is to provide a hassle-free service experience at dealerships by ensuring quality service in a short span of time.
That said, Volkswagen isn’t the first auto manufacturer to provide such a service. Toyota India already offers the 60 minute express service for its vehicles covering all the basics while Ford has Quick Lane outlets. In the US, the Volkswagen Express Service takes 90 minutes to complete the entire servicing. A time period hasn’t been mentioned for the cars in India though. The automaker did convey that over the next 12 months, the Express service facility will be launched across key dealerships in a phased manner starting from Coimbatore and followed by Gurgaon and Chennai.
