The dual-tone paint scheme on the Kawasaki Ninja 300 special edition is inspired from the 30th Anniversary edition introduced last year in global markets.
2014 marked the 30th anniversary of Kawasaki’s ‘Ninja’ brand and the automaker introduced the 30th Anniversary special edition across the entire Ninja lineup to commemorate the same. While the anniversary edition never made it to India on the 300, the automaker has silently introduced the Ninja 300 special edition with the 30th Anniversary edition livery, which was recently snapped by our reader Ivin Pires at a dealership.
The lime green and star dust white paint scheme on the Kawasaki Ninja 300 are inspired from the 30th anniversary edition and gets ‘Special Edition’ badging around the fuel cap. In addition, the special edition Ninja 300 gets ‘300’ written on the fairing which is unique to our market, since it is not visible on models overseas. The white and green paint scheme accentuate the aesthetics of the bike while the carbon fibre finished plastics look extremely sporty.
Apart from the cosmetic update, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 gets no mechanical changes as such. The instrument cluster comes from the 2016 update offering better illumination at night for the analog tachometer. Coming to other colour options, white is said to be axed from the options list while the iconic lime green soldiers on, giving the Ninja its distinctive look. Fortunately, the special edition does not command a premium pricing over the standard version with the prices for the Ninja 300 starting at Rs. 3.61 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
In terms of power, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 continues to use the 296cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor, belting out 39 PS at 11,000 RPM with a peak torque of 27 Nm available at 10,000 RPM. Keeping things up-to-date, Kawasaki introduced the 2016 Ninja 300 internationally with two new colour options and an updated instrument cluster. There have been no power upgrades overseas too, but we do hope to see one for MY2017 along with cosmetic tweaks as part of a mid-lifecycle update. And yes, there is no ABS offered in India still.
