The Sportivo edition adds convenience features and visual upgrades on the base ‘Active’ variant of the Fiat Punto Evo and will go on sale in the following days.
While volumes may vary, there is no denying that Fiat does manage to satiate the need of driving enthusiasts with their range of products. Having launched the Abarth Punto and Avventura recently, the automaker took a major leap in offering a true performance hatchback in the country. With a positive vibe surrounding its models, Fiat now plans to push the standard version of the Punto Evo with a new limited edition variant christened as the ‘Sportivo’, keeping up with the festive spirit.
Based on the Fiat Punto Evo Active variant, the limited edition model will come with a body kit, 15-inch alloy wheels, contrast white Roof, Sportivo decals, chrome garnish on ORVMs; door sill plates and a rear spoiler. The alloy wheels come from the pre-facelift Punto which we really like. On the inside, the Punto Evo Sportivo gets a 6.5-inch multi-function touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming, GPS with 3D Navigation, reverse parking sensors, new seat covers and special carpet with Fiat branding.
In terms of power, the Fiat Punto Evo Sportivo edition will continue with the same 1.2-litre FIRE petrol motor producing 68 PS and 96 Nm of torque, while diesel power comes from the tried and tested 1.3-litre MultiJet engine churning out 76 PS and 197 Nm of torque. Both mills come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Essentially, the Sportivo edition adds a host of convenience features on the base variant of the Punto that are otherwise available on the Dynamic and Emotion trims.
The new features on the Punto Evo Sportivo will add a VFM factor on the base variant, as long as Fiat chooses to price the special edition correctly. The Italian automaker may not be as commanding as it once was in the Indian market, but surely is working towards creating a niche for itself. The Sportivo edition is expected to go on sale in the following days.
