Mahindra is readying the Quanto facelift for a launch before the end of the current fiscal year. The vehicle was recently spotted testing near Mumbai.
After the launch of the TUV300, most people thought that the Quanto will soon be laid to rest by Mahindra. But, it appears that the brand has no such intentions and it will continue selling both the products simultaneously. In fact, the Quanto is being given a facelift to make it look fresher as it looks very dated currently. The facelifted vehicle will be launched before the end of this fiscal year and will get multiple changes. The name might be changed to Canto.
Talking of changes, majority of them will be to the exteriors of the Quanto, especially the front. The boxy rear doesn’t seem to get any major changes. Based on the recent spotting of the car, these are the changes which can be seen.
- Revised front fascia
- New grille with vertical slats (like other Mahindra vehicles)
- New headlamps
- LED DRLs located above the headlamps
- Air intake on the hood
The facelifted Quanto will also get some changes on the inside. But, the changes won’t be as noticeable as the ones on the outside. From the spottings of vehicles on test till now, below mentioned changes can be expected.
- Beige and grey interior colour scheme
- New multi-functional steering wheel
- Revamped instrument console with more information
- New AC vents
The biggest change however is expected on the mechanical front with the facelifted Quanto sharing its powertrain with the TUV300. This means that the current engine will be replaced by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder mHawk80 unit which produces 84 BHP of power and 230 Nm of torque. Even though it is a three-cylinder motor, the drivability is good and it has enough punch for city driving. As is the case with the TUV300, the Quanto will also get an option of a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT unit.
