The Fiat Avventura Abarth is the first hot crossover to be launched in India and it packs in quite a punch, matching its butch styling.
Fiat has finally launched the Avventura Abarth in India and the vehicle has been priced at Rs. 9.95 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Avventura Abarth comes with styling changes on the outside while the most significant change is below the bonnet, i.e. the massive powerplant. This is the third Abarth to be launched in India, after the 595 Competizione and the Punto Abarth. Both the Punto and Avventura are for those who want to have fun on a budget.
Most of the styling of the Avventura remains the same as before but there are some changes that have taken place. The vehicle now gets 16-inch Abarth alloy wheels, Abarth stripes on the side of the car and some Scorpion badges. The interiors remain the same as the stock Avventura. The Avventura Abarth is offered in only two colours – Exotica Red and Pearl White, which makes sense because these are the ones that look the most sporty and since the vehicle caters to a limited customer base, there is no point in making too many colours available.
Powering the Avventura Abarth is the same 1.4-litre Turbojet engine that pumps out 140 HP of power and 210 Nm of torque, available between 2000 – 4000 RPM. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The crossover accelerates from 0-100 km/hr in just 9.9 seconds which is pretty quick. The vehicle is also said to return an ARAI-tested fuel efficiency of 17.1 km/l, which translates to 11-12 km/l in real world conditions. The Italian car also benefits from all four disc brakes as standard.
The Fiat Avventura Abarth makes a good buy for those who want the power of the Abarth but also prefer crossover looks. The car is more powerful than even other hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Polo GT TSi and Mercedes A-Class. The Avventura competes with the Hyundai i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross and Volkswagen Cross Polo but none of them offer a hot variant like this. However, the game will surely change if Volkswagen launches GT versions of the Cross Polo.
