In quite a surprising move, Mercedes has imported CKD kits of the Maybach S500 to India and it is likely that the vheicle’s launch is also quite near.

The Maybach provides a blend of power, luxury, style, features and snob value

The Mercedes S-Class is an extremely successful luxury sedan in India. The S-Class offers immense comfort, style and power and has a lot to offer. However, what do you do if you want a better package than the S-Class? You have the Mercedes Maybach then! We all know that the German automaker will soon be launching the Maybach brand in India but now it has come to light that the company has imported a lot of CKD units of the Maybach S500 from Germany so there is a high possibility that the Maybach S500 will be launched via the CKD route instead of the CBU route.

The Mercedes Maybach is an ultimate pinnacle of luxury and style. The vehicle is based on the W222 S-Class but comes with certain changes on the outside as well as the inside. The exteriors come with Maybach logos, chrome B-pillar restyled elements like bumpers and grille and new alloy wheels. The rear of the vehicle gets two individual electrically-controlled seats along with a lot of features. The Maybach S500 is powered by a 4.6-litre V8 engine that produces 455 BHP of power and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is matched to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The vehicle has a claimed mileage of 12.3 km/l.

The Mercedes Maybach competes with vehicles from the Bentley and Rolls Royce stables. We expected the limousine’s price to be upwards of Rs. 2.5 crore (ex-showroom) if brought down via the CBU route, but if Mercedes does manage to launch the car as a CKD vehicle, it will no doubt be priced quite aggressively and we can expect a starting price of Rs. 2 crore (ex-showroom). Mercedes has already been betting big on the Indian market and the company has launched a lot of products in this year. If the Maybach comes to India at an aggressive price point, it will surely kill all its rivals in the luxury sedan segment.
