You read it first on MotorBeam. Yet another Mahindra Mojo spotting? When are they launching it? Are they even going to launch it? These questions would pop in every reader’s mind when they see this article. But, things are a bit different this time. Instead of our readers sending us pictures which didn’t reveal too many details, we ourselves spotted the bike in the city of Mumbai recently. Not only pictures, we have got some exclusive information and feedback on the bike from a regular joe who tested the Mojo for more than 15,000 kms over a period of 1.5 months. Read on to find what the bike is all about.

First things first, the Mahindra Mojo looks big and impressive at first glance itself. The twin pod headlamps, the DRLs and the beefy upside down forks give the motorcycle an aggressive look when viewed head on. Move to the side and things are much more interesting. You immediately notice the large 320 mm petal disc at the front which are the biggest in the segment and are like the units found on much more powerful superbikes. The radiator gets fibre covers on each side which have vents for airflow and they will protect the bike in case of an untoward accident. The golden chassis exposed in certain portions and the silencer design add to the looks.

Towards the rear, the Mahindra Mojo gets an LED tail-light with a minimalist design. The beefy 150/60/ZR17 tyre at the rear makes the bike look imposing and the dual silencers give it that mean look. The mudguard doesn’t look bad at all and serves its purpose decently well. However, since it doesn’t cover a large portion of the rear wheel, mud will splash around. The seat feels comfortable and with the high set handlebar, this bike from the Indian manufacturer will be a perfect machine for touring across India. The switchgear feels premium and is backlit too. The instrument console sports a nice design getting an analogue tachometer with lights that move along with the revs.

The most impressive part is that the rider who rode the bike for such a long distance was totally satisfied with the bike. The comments made by him are as follows –

  • The engine is powerful and the high torque figure helps a lot while climbing steep slopes where other bikes need help
  • The suspension setup is amazing and even after all the abuse thrown at it, it works as well as it did on the first day
  • The brakes are the best in the segment and actually feel better than the Honda CBR250R’s brakes which comes with ABS
  • While most will think that since it rides on Pirelli tyres it would be prone to punctures, it is not the case
  • The tyres give the bike excellent grip in dry weather and wet conditions alike, no slipping around on wet roads
  • The ergonomics of the bike are spot on which make it a better tourer than any other bike in the segment and a segment above
  • The twin pod headlights illuminate the area in front really well, light doesn’t scatter

We will reserve our comments till we test ride the bike and compare it with other bikes but if what we heard is true, the Mahindra Mojo will sell really well and shake up the segment. Considering the rider didn’t face any issues even after riding it so extensively, it can be deduced that Mahindra has actually worked on ironing out each and every issue that the bike could possibly have. With the price expected to be under Rs. 1.6 lakhs (ex-showroom), this can be a great choice for riders looking at a bike which is an all-rounder. Apparently, bookings for this sports tourer have also started at Mahindra dealerships now. So those looking to lay their hands on one early on can book their steeds.
