The Mercedes S63 AMG saloon is the performance derivative of the S-Class saloon and comes with an AMG tuned V8 Bi-Turbo engine that does the nought to tonne sprint in 4.4 seconds.
Having launched the S63 AMG Coupe, S500 Coupe and the G63 AMG Crazy Colour Edition in India just last month, Mercedes-Benz India is on a launch spree and has officially introduced the 2015 S63 AMG four-door saloon in the country, priced at Rs. 2.53 Crores (ex-showroom, Bangalore). This is the ninth Mercedes to be launched in the country this year out of the total 15 promised by the German automaker and is the fire breathing derivative of the extremely luxurious S-Class saloon tuned by the team at Affalterbach.
The Mercedes S63 AMG saloon resembles closely to the stock S-Class but gets several AMG bits that gives its performance credentials including the redesigned bumper with larger air intakes, V8 badges on the front fenders, blacked out roof and a rear diffuser. The trademark AMG quad exhausts also make an appearance and emit the sweet sounding V8 grunt that is hard to miss. The saloon rides on 20-inch AMG alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, upgrades include an all-black cabin with aluminium inserts for the sporty feel. You also get new AMG sports seats done up in the very expensive Nappa leather, AMG Sports steering wheel, aluminium finished paddle shifters, AMG embossed centre armrest and much more. Much like the standard S-Class, the performance saloon does not compromise on providing maximum rear seat comfort and comes with Magic Body Control that made its debut on the S63 AMG Coupe in India.
Under the hood, the Mercedes S63 AMG saloon uses a 5.5-litre Bi-Turbo V8 petrol engine tuned to produce 567 BHP at 5500 RPM and 900 Nm of torque between 2250-3750 RPM, paired to a 7-speed SpeedShift AMG transmission sending power to the rear wheels. The V8 motor allows you to achieve the 0-100 km/hr run in 4.4 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/hr. The Mercedes S63 AMG will be locking horns with a host of offerings including the Maserati Quattroporte, Aston Martin Rapide, Bentley Flying Spur, BMW 760 Li, Porsche Panamera and the likes.
