Luxury car manufacturer Jaguar has finally launched a special edition XF, called the XF Aero-Sport in the country today, priced at Rs. 52 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The special or exclusive edition as the company terms it as, features visual upgrades to increase the vehicle’s looks over its standard counterpart and a few additions to the interiors as well. The luxury saloon has always been known for its unique styling elements, dynamic design, comfortable drive and good engine performance.
On the visual front, the Jaguar XF Aero-Sport comes with sporty additions including a rear spoiler, a sport-styled front bumper, ‘R’ style side sills and a black front grille with chrome surrounds. The interiors are bolstered in premium supple leather, elegant real wood veneers and contemporary aluminium surfaces. Other features include a touch screen navigation system, electric sunroof, front seat away (for improved rear legroom) and a full size spare wheel.
Power on the diesel Jaguar XF continues to be drawn from a 2.2-litre (2179cc), 4-cylinder engine which generates a maximum power of 190 PS at 3500 RPM and 450 Nm of peak torque at 2000 RPM. This engine comes mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox. The XF Aero-Sport is available in five exterior colours.
The car maker has never really been competing for pole position in the luxury car space, but Jaguar continues to lose out to its fast paced German rivals including Mercedes, Audi and BMW in the luxury sedan market. Lack of product updates and new models can mainly be attributed towards the same, but Jaguar had recently unveiled the next generation XF sedan, which draws various similarities with its younger looking baby brother, the XE. The second-generation XF will be launching in India later this year and will most definitely give a tough fight to the Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6 and BMW 5-Series. Till then, Jaguar will be relying on special editions such as this to keep customers coming to its 21 authorised dealers in various cities across the country.
