Its 2015 and Volkswagen has updated the Vento yet again. This time there are no changes to the mechanicals but it gets multiple changes to the exteriors and interiors.
The Volkswagen Vento has been getting a lot of updates of late. It has been just 8 months since the previous facelift was launched and now the German automaker has come up with one more update to the sedan. This time, the Vento gets cosmetic additions and some add-ons to the equipment while it remains the same mechanically. The company keeps launching such updates to keep up with increasing competition from its Japanese and Korean rivals. At the front, the new Vento gets a redesigned grille similar to the Passat. The front bumper is tweaked and it gets a chrome strip at the bottom. The shape of the fog lamps has been changed from circular to rectangular and they also come with cornering lights now.
The bonnet also sees a mild tweak in design. The alloy wheels have been changed to another style now and the door handles too get a hint of chrome. There are no other visible changes to the side profile. The rear gets new tail lamps which look beautiful while the bumper, boot-lid and tail pipe all come with chrome garnishes. Overall, the exteriors of the updated Vento look rich and classy and Volkswagen seems to have done a great job here without going too over-the-top. The interiors are similar but the colour scheme is slightly lighter now. Features like cruise control, cooled glovebox, dead pedal, external boot release and auto-folding mirrors have been added to the top variants.
Mechanically, the Volkswagen Vento gets no changes and it will continue to be offered with the same 1.2-litre TSI and 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engines and a 1.5-litre TDI oil-burner. The transmissions on offer are a 5-speed manual unit and a 7-speed DSG box. The Vento loses out to rivals when it comes to after-sales service and also perceived higher cost of maintenance. The German sedan competes with the Honda City which has been the market leader as always while the Maruti Ciaz too is selling in decent numbers over the Hyundai Verna.
