575 units of the CR-V, 10,805 units of the Accord and 1 unit of the Civic that have been manufactured between 2003 and 2007 have been recalled.
It has been a while since a manufacturer in India has recalled its vehicles for a part replacement. Heading the list for this year however is Honda, which has announced that it will be carrying out a preventive recall of two vehicles including the CR-V SUV and Accord premium sedan.
The recall from Honda includes 575 units of the CR-V manufactured in the year 2004 and 10,805 units of the Accord which rolled out from the company’s factory between 2003 and 2007. The passenger-side airbag inflator of the CR-V is the affected part and will be replaced, whereas, the driver-side airbag inflator of the Accord is going to be replaced. This move from the Japanese automobile manufacturer comes as part of a global recall or safety improvement campaign that concerns airbag inflators. Also, the passenger-side airbag inflator of 1 unit of the Civic sedan manufactured in 2004 will also be replaced.
Fortunately, the concerned parts of the recalled cars are not a serious cause of concern because there have been no reports of any incidents in India at least. Honda as expected will not be charging its customers for the replacement and will be doing so free of charge at Honda’s dealerships across the country from 4th June 2015 onwards. The company will get in touch with the owners of these vehicles individually and the replacement will take place in a phased manner.
