Kawasaki will finally bring its much awaited and highly anticipated Ninja ZX-6R 636 in India in 2015. It will be brought down via the CBU route.
Kawasaki will be launching the Ninja ZX-6R 636 in 2015 which is essentially a smaller sibling to the ZX-10R that is already on sale in India. While the manufacturer also sells the ZX-6R internationally, the ‘636’ version is the newer of the two and is powered by a 636cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine that produces 129.2 BHP of power at 13,500 RPM and 70.6 Nm of torque at 11,500 RPM, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This popular motorcycle has been long awaited by Kawasaki fans in India.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636 is also technologically rich and comes with several features including slipper clutch, three mode traction control, two power modes, ABS and even an economy indicator. Kawasaki will be bringing the super sports offering via the expensive fully imported route in India in the last quarter of 2015 and it will be priced at around Rs. 13 lakhs (ex-showroom). Underpinning the Ninja ZX-6R is an aluminium chassis that is light in weight. The motorcycle is heavy on aerodynamics and comes with a 17-litre fuel tank, the claimed fuel efficiency being a decent 18.7 km/l.
Kawasaki has been considering the launch of the ZX-6R in the country since 2013 but since there were no offerings from other players in this segment, the company decided to keep the launch on hold. With the performance motorcycle segment booming in India, the launch of the 636 is a very good idea indeed. The Ninja ZX-6R will be competing primarily against the track scorching Triumph Daytona 675R in the segment. It will also fight it out with the Ducati Panigale 899. Maybe Yamaha will take notice and bring in the R6.
