The Tata Nexon will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in its production guise. It will compete with the Ford EcoSport and upcoming Mahindra compact SUVs.
At the 2014 Auto Expo, Tata Motors exhibited an impressive lineup of their future cars showcasing new tech, future design language and unique concepts. The main attraction at the Tata Motors stall was the Nexon concept, which is a much awaited compact SUV from the Indian carmaker. It will be interesting to see how they transform the concept model to reality. The production version will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo next year, while the launch is expected to happen soon after by mid-2016.
In terms of styling, the Tata Nexon’s production avatar will get a more toned down front bumper and revised headlamps. The alloy wheels will be a lot smaller in size than what you see on the concept. Basically, there will be a hint of the Bolt and Zest’s design but in a more upmarket fashion and upright stance. As seen on the Bolt and Zest, the Nexon compact SUV will be loaded with equipment such as Harman infotainment system, touchscreen, Smartphone connectivity and so on.
The interiors of the Tata Nexon are likely to be spacious having a sizable boot capacity. Engine options seen on the Bolt and Zest will continue on the Nexon including the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.3-litre diesel. The compact SUV from Tata Motors will take on the likes of Mahindra S101, Ford EcoSport and upcoming Maruti baby SUV which too will debut at the biennial event. For the time being, Tata Motors is preparing to launch the Safari Storme facelift and Nano GenX with AMT gearbox next month. The Kite hatchback and compact sedan will be introduced in the second half of 2015 before the festive season begins.
