Bajaj Auto has launched the Pulsar 150 AS (Adventure Sport) in India, priced at an introductory Rs. 79,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike gets a half fairing and an extended visor, helping the Pulsar 150 AS do long distance journeys without tiring the rider. Underpinned by a perimeter frame and using a rear monoshock, the Pulsar 150 AS is powered by a 149.5cc, twin-spark, 4-valve, DTS-i engine. The air-cooled mill generates 17 PS of power at 9500 RPM and 13 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM which is easily class leading, making the Pulsar 150 AS the most powerful 150cc bike in the country today.
The Pulsar 150 AS gets a 240 mm front disc while rear braking duties are taken care by a 130 mm drum. The motorcycle gets a first in segment projector headlight (55 W). The company has skipped on body graphics and three colours are offered – black, blue and red. Bajaj Auto has shared the platform of the 200 NS on the 150 AS and thus it will offer a similar riding experience but will be more frugal due to the smaller engine. While the company hasn’t revealed the rivals of the bike, we expect it to rub shoulders with other 150cc offerings while technically its main rival is the Hero Impulse.
The Pulsar 150 AS runs on 80/100/17 front tyre and 110/80/17 rear tyre (tubeless). It has a 12-litre fuel tank and weighs 143 kgs. The ground clearance of the Pulsar 150 AS is 170 mm while the length, width and height is identical to the 200 AS (2070 mm x 804 mm x 1205 mm – L x W x H). The Pulsar has ruled the Sports motorcycle segment since its launch 14 years ago. The company sells around 57,000 units of the ‘Definitely Male’ bike in India every month and has a market share of 43%.
