Yamaha R1 and R1M have been launched in the Indian market being one of the most expensive superbikes in India.
Yamaha has launched the 2015 versions of the R1 and R1M in India priced at Rs. 22,34,300/- and Rs. 29,43,100/- (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. Both the superbikes are offered in India as CBU. The R1 is available in Racing Blue and Racing Red colours while the R1M gets a single Silver Blu Carbon colour choice. Powering the R1 is a 998cc, 4-cylinder engine that churns out 200 PS of power at 13,500 RPM with 112.4 Nm of torque at 11,500 RPM, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The R1 is based on a new aluminium deltabox frame and weighs 199 kgs.
The Yamaha R1M is a more track focused version of the R1 that gets the same 998cc crossplane 4-cylinder, 4-valve engine churning out 200 PS at 13,500 RPM and 112.4 Nm at 11,500 RPM, mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. It comes with Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) that adapts to the conditions. It has also got Communication Control Unit (CCU) that helps the rider to record lap times, running data, lean angle, throttle position and more.
Other electronics on the R1M includes Slide Control System, Traction Control System, Front Lift Control System, Launch Control System and Quick Shift System. One thing that sets the R1M apart from the regular R1 externally is the carbon bodywork on the former. It gets lightweight carbon bodywork which is inspired by the Yamaha M1. Both the bikes have a beautiful design language and look aggressive with the distinctively styled front cowl and hidden LED headlamps.
