Mahindra has given the XUV500 facelift a premium look to the front without messing too much with the rest of the design, but there could be some technical upgrades on the SUV.
Completing four years in the Indian market, the Mahindra XUV500 has had a pretty steady run and the automaker has been working on the updated version of the crossover to keep things consistent for the coming years as well. While we have spotted a number of test mules for the new XUV500 in the past, these leaked images show the facelifted model in all its glory sporting a host of updates with the launch expected in May this year.
Starting with the changes, the 2015 Mahindra XUV500 facelift gets a more flowing design with the new and chunkier chrome grille, revised headlight cluster with integrated LED daytime running lights and a redesigned bumper with a brushed silver finished skid plate. The fog lights have been positioned higher this time and get L-shaped chrome garnish for that premium appeal. Moving to the sides, the XUV500 is largely the same, save for the new 10-spoke alloy wheels whereas the rear retains the look from the outgoing model and only gets a larger chrome bar resting over the registration plate holder.
While there are no leaked images of the interiors, we expect certain upgrades in terms of upholstery and equipment along with better material quality on offer. Mahindra will continue to use the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine on the XUV500 facelift that belts out 140 BHP of power and 330 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The automaker also has plans to launch the automatic and hybrid versions of the XUV500, but it needs to be seen if Mahindra will go all out and launch the new variants this year itself.
