With the current generation Toyota Fortuner reaching the end of its life cycle, the new model will be introduced in 2016.
The Toyota Fortuner has never been known for its features. Neither has it ever been known for its comfort. What people want from the Fortuner and what the SUV has constantly succeeded in providing is ruggedness and the ability to bully everyone with its manly looks, apart from bullet-proof reliability of course. The current generation of the SUV is getting too long in the tooth now and Toyota is readying an all-new model that will make it to the market next year. The 2016 Fortuner is currently undergoing testing across different parts in Asia and the first pictures of the SUV have been leaked.
As expected, the all new Fortuner gets a completely new design which not only looks futuristic but also sleek. Sure, the current generation of the SUV has a far more muscular and butch appeal and the new model lacks some of it, but it still looks quite good. The front quarter angle reminds us of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The front bumper is set at a good height and it comes with some detailing like blackened air dam and new fog lamps and DRLs. The headlamps are also new and these units feature a thin and striking design and it also comes with projector headlights, just like the current model.
The Fortuner is based on the Hilux platform, just like it always has. The interiors will be completely revamped this time and the vehicle will boast of more features. The new Fortuner also comes with a range of petrol and diesel engines but it is highly unlikely that Toyota will launch a petrol-powered Fortuner in India. The company will offer both manual and automatic transmissions here. Manufacturing of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner will commence early next year and the auto giant will finally launch the SUV at the 2016 Auto Expo.
