The 2015 Audi TT sports car scored 4 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test largely due to some missing safety tech.

NCAP crash tests have become increasingly popular among enthusiasts as well as regular car buyers in the past few years. Whenever a new vehicle is launched, everyone gets curious to check out its crash test results. NCAP has its own divisions like Global NCAP, Asian NCAP, Euro NCAP, etc. This time, the 2015 Audi TT coupe gets tested by the Euro NCAP and surprisingly the vehicle has managed a score of only 4 stars. These high-end premium vehicles usually come with a lot of safety features and tech apart from good build quality then what does the TT lose out on so that it could score only a 4 star rating?
Well, the structure of the 2015 Audi TT has been declared as very good after the impact. For both the front and side impact tests, the body managed to keep the cabin in good shape. However, the dummies did suffer from moderate to light forces and the front passenger’s chest suffered a considerable impact. Adult occupants received a safety rating of 81% while it was slightly lower for child occupants at 68%. Pedestrian safety rating is 82%. All these ratings are very decent for a car in this class.
The 2015 Audi TT lacks on certain safety tech like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) which is not available even as an option. Lane Keep Assist is available on the TT but again it is an optional extra. There is also no provision to fit a knee airbag in the new Audi TT. Due to the lacking of these safety features, the TT scores a rating of just 64% in the Safety Assist section of the crash test. Meanwhile, its rivals have scored a complete 5-star rating.
