The Hero HX250R is likely to be launched this October with prices close to Rs. 2 lakhs and the company has imported 2 units for testing purposes.
Hero MotoCorp’s pavilion at the 2014 Auto Expo was a spectacle with a plethora of new concepts and unveils that were ready to hit the market soon. While the concepts were enticing enough, what really caught everyone’s attention was the HX250R, the Indian auto giant’s answer to the maddening Dukes and CBRs of the world. However, Hero hasn’t been aggressive in bringing the production spec bike to the market in the past year now but that does not seem to be far away. The company has imported two units of the HX250R ABS in India from the US for testing purposes.
With test mules soon to be visible, we urge our readers to be ready with a camera at all times. Boasting extremely impressive specs on paper, the 2015 Hero HX250R will be powered by a 249cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with fuel injection churning out 31 PS of power and 26 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed transmission. The bike will come with different power output controls with the normal mode producing only 24 PS and the performance mode pushing the power all the way to 31 PS. The bike also boasts of a highly impressive power to weight ratio considering a weight of just 139 kgs (dry).
The Hero HX250R is expected to do the 0-100 km/hr run in less than 8 seconds while the speedo could be pushed till 160 km/hr. Dual-channel ABS will be on offer, but as optional. You also get an underseat exhaust on the quarter-litre bike, first of its kind in the segment. The HX250R also sounds appealing due to Hero’s collaboration with EBR that promises impressive handling prowess to compliment those numbers. With the cost exceeding the company’s initial pricing, it is believed that the new HX250R will be priced close to Rs. 2 lakhs with the launch expected around October during the festive season.
