Hero offers much better products in the same space as the Splendor NXG at present, which didn’t work out well for the older NXG and was discontinued due to poor sales.
It is seldom that Hero MotoCorp discontinues products in the country. However, if sales do not justify the production, it is only logical to discontinue the model and make way for something better on the assembly line. Doing exactly that, Hero has silently discontinued the Splendor NXG variant in the country on account of poor sales. With the NXG no more on sale, the Splendor series is now available in a total of five variants.
The Hero Splendor NXG was first launched in 2007, targeted at the young set of buyers looking for something economical and funky at the same time. The bike came with dual tone body graphics, 5-spoke black alloy wheels, metallic paint job and a black finished engine to give that youth-centric appeal. Power came from the tried and tested 97.2cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 7 BHP of power and 8 Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed transmission. Since 2007, Hero has launched a host of new products and updated models in the same space as the NXG which led to cannibalization of sales for the latter.
We even spoke to Hero dealers in Mumbai which confirmed the discontinuation of the Splendor NXG. Most dealers have also cleared their inventory for the model while certain dealers might still have the old stock and could like to clear the same with hefty discounts. The Splendor family now comprises of the Splendor+, Splendor Pro, Splendor Pro Classic, Splendor iSmart and Super Splendor (125cc version).
