A quick look at the sales numbers of the top 10 selling two-wheelers in India in December 2014.
The two-wheeler market in India is flooded with a huge range of options across various segments. The commuter segment is the one which sees the most sales every month since commuter bikes are preferred by majority of customers. Another segment that sees a lot of sales is the gearless scooter segment as these scooters offer a lot of convenience and hence they are preferred by college goers, ladies as well as the elderly. The Hero Splendor continues to top the charts every month and December 2014 was no different. Sales of the Splendor saw a marginal hike in the last month of 2014.
The Splendor is followed by the Honda Activa which remains India’s highest selling scooter. The Activa is followed by the Hero HF Deluxe and the Hero Passion. Hero MotoCorp dominates the top 10 chart with a number of products from its stable making it to the list. Following Hero is Honda, who too has a number of products as top-sellers. However, the Honda Dream has seen a significant fall in sales in December, vis-a-vis November. The Bajaj Discover, which was a part of November 2014’s top 10 doesn’t find any place in last month’s list.
Apart from this, the sales of every best-seller have been pretty much consistent with slight fluctuations which are expected. The Hero Maestro scooter has entered the top 10 list this month while it wasn’t a part of the list in the previous month. Looking at the chart, we can say only one thing – Hero MotoCorp is the Maruti Suzuki of motorcycles and Splendor is the Alto!
