Professional stunt driver Alistair Moffatt sets a new Guiness World Record for a parallel parking job, this time in a Fiat 500C 1.2 Cult.

Parallel parking is a chore hated by many drivers since most of them find it annoying and complicated even though it is pretty easy. Then there are some people who love parallel parking so much that they go on to make world records by parking compact cars in tight spots. Alistair Moffatt is one such stunt driver who had held the Guiness World Record for the tightest parallel parking job but the record was taken over by a Chinese driver who bettered it in a MINI Cooper.
Now, Alistair Moffatt has reclaimed the record and this time he has used a Fiat 500C. The 500C 1.2 Cult was parked between a 500S and a 500C Colour Therapy Edition with a minuscule distance of just 7.5 cms to spare. The previous record had a distance of 8 cms. Since this parallel parking job requires quick reflexes and agility, a compact car with easy manoeuvrability is selected. The 500C had its ESP disabled while it also had lower tyre pressures.
The video shows how Alistair carefully but quickly parks the car while onlookers seem excited. The record has not been made official yet and it will be done soon. However, these types of records have little bearing in the real world as one can’t really drift their car into a tight spot. The real challenge lies in parking a car without the use of a handbrake to get those rear wheels sliding.
