Volvo releases pictures of the new S60 Cross Country which is based on the S60 sedan. A new segment of sedan-based crossovers has been created.
Volvo sells some of the most exciting looking vehicles in the market today. The V40 Cross Country, S60 sedan, XC60, etc. are all lookers. The company is now expanding its product range by venturing into new segments. The automaker already sells the V40 and V60 Cross Country crossovers globally while the V40 Cross Country is available in India too. Volvo is now looking to launch sedan-based crossovers. Yes, the term might seem new and it basically means luxury sedans having the capabilities of a crossover.
Volvo will be showcasing the S60 Cross Country at the Detroit Auto Show next week but the carmaker has already released some images of its newest product. Just one glance at the car was enough to set us drooling. The S60 Cross Country features the same exteriors as the regular S60 sedan with changes being made to the bumpers and side skirts. What sets it apart is the higher ground clearance and ride height, apart from high-profile tyres that will aid in comfort and also tackle rough surfaces easily. These tyres will be offered in 18-inch and 19-inch options. The ride height has been increased by 65 mm. The S60 Cross Country also gets an all-wheel-drive system.
Volvo will offer three engines with the S60 Cross Country. The T5 2.0-litre 5-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 250 HP of power. There will also be a D4 diesel engine producing 190 PS of power based on Volvo’s Drive-E powertrain. The last engine is a 2.4-litre diesel unit having 5-cylinders. The Volvo S60 Cross Country will be sold in AWD as well as front-wheel-drive in selected markets and will be launched in India as well.
