Bajaj Auto will launch the 200 SS in the Indian market soon but the bike has already reached dealerships in Turkey where it was showcased to dealers last month.
The Pulsar 200 SS could have been the hottest performance bike of 2014 but Bajaj Auto delayed it for reasons best known to them. The company has confused people time and again, the MD stating that the launch was in 2014 but no such thing happened and sales of the Pune based company continue to stagnate. Now the Pulsar 200 SS has reached dealerships but don’t get too excited just yet, the bikes are on display in showrooms in Turkey, not India. We spoke to a few dealers who said no bike has come, nor has any intimation come from the company. They did say that the launch will happen later this month.
The Pulsar 200 SS was showcased at a dealer meet in Turkey last month and a stunt show was also organised. That’s not all, the Pulsar 200 SS was being ridden across the country sans any camouflage. The Pulsar’s success is not just India bound but India is responsible for such a huge fan following of this motorcycle. It’s sad to see Bajaj giving priority to export markets over their home country, the SS 200 should be launched in India first, more so because the quarter-litre segment is as hot as ever.
For the Turkey market, Bajaj has given ABS to the Pulsar 200 SS. The bike’s 199.5cc single-cylinder engine uses a fuel-injection system and pumps out 24.4 PS of power. The Indian model will also be offered with FI but ABS will be omitted, it will however make it to the 400 SS which is due to launch later this year. The Pulsar CS 400 will only be launched next year. Bajaj has already started production of the Pulsar 200 SS sometime back and the motorcycle is expected to cost Rs. 1.35 lakhs (on-road). The company also commenced production of the new Platina recently whose launch is also around the corner.
