Audi has unveiled the new Prologue Coupe concept at the 2014 LA Auto Show. The vehicle displays the new styling philosophy that will be seen on future Audi vehicles.
Ingolstadt-based Audi AG has just lifted the covers off the new Prologue Coupe concept which also showcases the manufacturer’s newest design philosophy. The vehicle has been designed by Marc Lichte who joined the company in 2012 and quickly started to form a new styling base for all future Audi vehicles. The designer adds that since Audi stands for lightweight, sporty and the quattro AWD system, they are trying to express this in a new form and the designing team has made use of different approaches for the exterior as well as interior styling.
The front fascia of the Audi Prologue Coupe concept looks striking. The lines are sharp and the bumper encompasses futuristic design touches. The headlights and grille let us know that it is an Audi inspite of the fact that they too are heavily designed and made to look radically different than the current-day Audis. The side profile shows off the vehicle’s long dimensions and the alloy wheels look like sharp blade rotors that will cut through the road. The interiors of the concept too look like they have come out straight from a sci-fi movie. The steering wheel does seem to be inspired from the Mercedes S-Class though.
The Audi Prologue Coupe is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out 597 horses and a massive 750 Nm of torque. The model gets quattro, obviously, and hence the sprint from 0-100 km/hr takes just 3.7 seconds. The Prologue measures 5100 mm in length, 1950 mm in width and 1390 mm in height. Audi claims that the vehicle gives a fuel economy of 11.62 km/l which also translates to 27.4 MPG in the US. Carbon dioxide emissions are rated at 199 g/km. The Audi Prologue Coupe competes with the Mercedes S-Class Coupe.
