The Hero Xtreme Sports gets aesthetic updates with power increased to 15.2 BHP

The launch of the Hero Xtreme Sports motorcycle has turned out to a long and tedious wait, ever since the model was first announced earlier this year. However, it now seems that the Indian two-wheeler giant might just finally bring its sporty offering in the 150cc segment to the showrooms with the preparations begun for the promotional activity. Now, Stuntech.in has shared this image on their Facebook page doing an endo on the Xtreme Sports during an international shoot, hinting towards an imminent launch most likely by the end of this year.

The Hero Xtreme Sports is the more powerful and sportier avatar of the Xtreme model. While the latter produces 14.2 BHP of power, the company has improved the figures on the Sports variant that produces 15.2 BHP of power at 8500 RPM and 12.80 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM from the same 150cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine, paired to a 5-speed transmission. Suspension duties are performed by hydraulic telescopic front suspension and a 5-step adjustable rear setup, while stopping power comes from 240 mm front disc brake and a 220 mm disc brake at the rear.

In addition, the Xtreme Sports also gets a new handlebar, headlight with LED position light, split seats, a wider rear tyre, an updated speedometer with side stand indicator and new body graphics. The new model will be taking on the popular premium end of the 150cc segment that has established offerings like the Yamaha FZ, Bajaj Pulsar, Honda CB Trigger and the more recent Suzuki Gixxer. While Hero retails the Xtreme in the segment, the company came in last in terms of sales in October this year. However, the Xtreme Sports with its superlative performance and impressive riding dynamics is expected to change the market position for the company.

Hero MotoCorp will retail the Xtreme and Xtreme Sports models together with the latter priced at more optimistically. While the Xtreme is priced at Rs. 82,193/- for the rear disc variant, the Xtreme Sports is expected to be priced around Rs. 87,000/- (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi) and will turn out to be more expensive than the Yamaha FZ which comes with fuel-injection. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see Hero’s pricing strategy with the Xtreme Sports in order to keep prices competitive without cannibalizing sales.
