KTM will commence deliveries of the RC 390 in January 2015 for the Indonesian market, with all the models exported from the India’a Chakan facility.
KTM is raking in big bucks with its newest flagship the RC 390 in India and the Austrian manufacturer plans to replicate its success in another two-wheeler loving market, Indonesia. Having previewed the full-faired motorcycle in Indonesia earlier this month, KTM has now opened bookings for the RC 390 for a limited period of 390 hours or 16 days and 6 hours for the early risers. Prospective customers can book their RC 390 online on KTM Indonesia’ website and, who will also get a free riding jacket as part of the exclusive offer.
Essentially a full-faired version of the Duke 390, the KTM RC 390 is the more track focused version and uses the same 373.2cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine with fuel injection technology that has been tuned to produce 43.5 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed transmission. Based on a Trellis frame, the RC 390 gets a WP suspension, Brembo disc brakes at the front and rear and Metzeler tyres. You also get ABS as standard on the full-faired bike.
Earlier this year, Yamaha Indonesia too chose the online route for bookings of the YZF-R25. With the hype surrounding the quarter-litre performance bike, Yamaha managed to garner 2800 bookings online within just 25 hours and the early customers were also given freebies including 250 Valentino Rossi AGV helmets and 5 Dainese VR46 leather jackets. Having proved to be successful, KTM too is now trying to capitalize on a similar marketing model.
The RC 390 will be exported from Bajaj-KTM’s Chakan based facility in the country as a CBU and will be locking horns with the locally made Yamaha YZF-R25, Honda CBR300R, Kawasaki Ninja 300R and the likes in the segment. While the RC 390 costs Rs. 2.35 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) in the country, the Indonesian version is expected to be priced twice as much due to the import duties and additional taxes. With the prices yet to be revealed, the model could cost well around 100 million Indonesian Rupiah (Rs. 5.08 lakhs) when it goes on sale. Deliveries will most likely commence from January, 2015.
