The Hero HX250R is now a confirmed global quarter litre motorcycle for Hero that has been showcased in the US and is planned to be showcased in Europe as well
The quarter-litre segment is becoming important around the world now. With 250cc being converted into 300cc and latter kept aside for other reasons, the market has become more competitive and intense in this category. A demand once made by Indians and Asians is now being made throughout the world. Hero MotoCorp understood this and displayed the radical HX250R to the market in the 2014 Auto Expo and with its specifications it blew away everybody. Hero is very adamant on world domination in every aspect so right from the Splendor to the HX250R, every model is ready to be sold worldwide.
Hero along with EBR motorcycles has showcased the HX250R in the US and it has created a lot of buzz in a good way and in a sarcastic way. The response seems good but our CC derived friends in America are claiming that why this isn’t a 300cc. Nevertheless, as everybody knows the power it creates is the same as Honda CBR300R. The HX250R is a good looking bike with a lot of power and weighs very less than its competition due to the geodesic frame which is nothing but a trellis frame underneath. Lot of changes will happen once the production version comes out.
The HX250R comes with a 250cc, single cylinder motor, which is fuel injected and liquid cooled unit that produces 31 BHP of power and a good 26 Nm of torque. The bike has a dry weight of 139 kgs and seems that it will come with ABS as standard. The bike has power modes which is namely Power and Economy mode which will further enchant the “sport bike” experience. Expect the bike to be priced below of what the CBR250R was priced at or may be similar and hence pricing will be the key factor to make you run to the showroom and get it because it is a very appealing motorcycle on paper for sure.
