The Mahindra Mojo was spotted doing high altitude testing in Ladakh wearing mild camouflage. A launch date has not been confirmed but there is a possibility of the motorcycle coming before March 2015.
Mahindra Two-Wheelers continues its extensive testing program with the much anticipated Mojo 300 and this time round, the street-fighter motorcycle was snapped during high altitude testing in the mountains of Ladakh. Unlike those mountains, the Mojo’s launch still remains very much out of sight ever since the model was first showcased in 2010. However, Mahindra did update the Mojo earlier this year at the 2014 Auto Expo as the production ready version and the bike was also showcased to dealers few weeks ago along with the new Gusto 110cc automatic scooter.
Just to give you a perspective, it’s been a little over four years since the Mahindra Mojo was first unveiled. Since then, the country has survived recession, change of governance, Mangalyan, several natural calamities, the rise of e-commerce website and much more. Even the Mumbai Metro commenced operations in the past months. However, the Mojo’s launch has been extensively delayed time and again. Currently, Mahindra is concentrating on making the newly launched Gusto a success and we do not expect the automaker to bring the Mojo in such a short interval. The latest speculations also suggest that the Mojo could be launched before March 2015 in the country.
Competing in the quarter-litre motorcycle space, the Mahindra Mojo 300 boasts of some impressive figures and is powered by a 295cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine that produces 28 PS of power and 25 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Much like Mahindra’s commuter range, the Mojo is expected to be feature rich including LED DRLs and tail light, gear shift light, low fuel indicator and much more. The bike gets an analogue tachometer with a digital display screen for other details.
The Mahindra Mojo 300 comes with Up-Side Down forks at the front and a monoshock suspension set-up at the rear; while stopping power comes from disc brakes at the front and rear. The test mule spotted was riding on 17-inch alloys with Pirelli Speed Demon tyres that will be offered on the production version as well. Competing against the KTM Duke 200, Suzuki Inazuma and Honda CBR300R, the Mojo is expected to be priced at around Rs. 1.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
