Ducati has announced the retro-looking Scrambler at the 2014 Intermot. The bike uses the same 803cc V-Twin engine that powers the Monster 796.
Ducati has finally unveiled its much-awaited bike, the Scrambler at the 2014 Intermot. The manufacturer had been showing pictures of the bike since the past few weeks and now we finally have some proper details about the motorcycle. Powering the Ducati Scrambler is the same 803cc V-twin engine that also powers the Monster 796. The engine churns out 75 HP of power and 67.7 Nm of torque and has been retuned to provide smooth acceleration across the entire RPM range.
From the looks of it, the Ducati Scrambler looks like a retro bike but company officials say that the motorcycle is a blend of modernness and retro. Ducati used to produce a similar bike in the 60s and 70s and this bike is how it would be had Ducati not stopped manufacturing the older Scrambler models. The bike gets a twin-spar steel trellis frame, die cast aluminium swingarm, 18-inch and 17-inch alloys at the front and rear respectively, Pirelli tyres, Brembo brakes and a two-channel ABS system.
The suspension comes from Kayaba and it consists of a monoshock with adjustable spring load and 41 mm upside-down forks. The seat height is 790 mm and the claimed dry weight is 170 kgs. The Scrambler gets some under-seat storage and Ducati has also provided a USB socket there. The Scrambler gets LEDs in the headlights, tail lamps and instrument cluster. The bike is offered in two colour choices – red and yellow. Ducati will launch the Scrambler in India but not in the immediate future.
