Skoda will debut the 2015 Fabia at the Paris Auto Show in October. It will be launched in Europe in November while the Indian launch will happen in 2017. Till then, Skoda will focus on the Rapid, Yeti, Octavia and Superb.
The Fabia hatchback was the cheapest vehicle in Skoda India’s portfolio and the premium hatch got discontinued last year. Speculations were rife that the Czech automaker will launch the new Fabia in India in 2015, but a couple of weeks back we reported that Skoda has shelved its plans to introduce the new Fabia in India. Skoda wants to focus on bigger products and higher segments and hence the company will keep the Rapid as its cheapest offering in India. Now it has been learnt that Skoda India will be launching the Fabia in 2017.
The 2015 Skoda Fabia will be showcased to the public at the Paris Auto Show which is scheduled for the first week of October. Accompanying the hatchback will be the the Fabia Combi which is the estate version of the vehicle. The Fabia as well as the Fabia Combi will be powered by the same new range of engines that Volkswagen has developed. These engines make the 2015 Fabia 17% more frugal than the outgoing version. The 1.4-litre oil burner produces 75 BHP of power and returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 32.25 km/l with 82 g of C02 emission per km.
The new Skoda Fabia follows the same styling philosophy that all the latest models from the company are following. The front face looks sharp and distinctive while resembling a mini Octavia while the rear too looks striking. Skoda India will continue to focus on the Rapid, Yeti, Octavia and Superb for now while the Fabia will be launched at a later date in 2017, giving the company plenty of time to set up heavy localisation for the vehicle. The automaker is also considering launching a sub 4-metre sedan that will use the same platform as the Rapid and will be positioned below it.
