The new Mahindra Scorpio will be launched at the end of this month and will come with revamped looks, refreshed interiors, new chassis and an all new gearbox. Prices might increase by Rs. 30,000-35,000/-.
Mahindra has been testing the new Scorpio since the past one year. We always wondered what was the company testing so much in the vehicle when it was supposed to be just a cosmetic facelift. The answers to all those questions are finally out. The new Mahindra Scorpio will have an all-new body-on-frame chassis and it carries a stiffer and lightweight design. The new chassis enables the Scorpio to provide a better ride and handling experience to the driver and passengers. The SUV will now come with a wider track and lower height.
The front of the SUV gets a new grille, head lights and bumper. The Scorpio will now look significantly different than the outgoing version. The rear too gets a new bumper along with LED tail lamps that lend a modern look to the vehicle. The interiors have been majorly revamped and the SUV gets a new dashboard with many other new components. The steering wheel is XUV-inspired and it features audio controls too. The AC vents get chrome surrounds. The instrument cluster gets a cool modern look with a digital temperature gauge, fuel indicator and gear indicator.
The 2015 Scorpio will be powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawk oil burner that comes with 120 HP of power. The gearbox however is an all-new 5-speed unit and the shift quality will be much more smoother than before. The new Scorpio will be launched on 25th September and it might cost Rs. 30,000-35,000/- more than the current Scorpio which is priced between Rs. 7.65-11.80 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It will compete with the Tata Safari Storme as well as compact SUVs like the Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano.
