With just weeks left for the official launch of the KTM RC 390, the sports bike was spotted at the automaker’s facility with complete production ready livery. KTM has been testing the RC 390 quite extensively, but this is the first time that images of the production ready model has surfaced online. Originally showcased at the EICMA Show last year, the RC 390 gets an overtone of white and black, while the distinctive orange treatment takes a prominent space in the colour scheme of the bike.
The side fairing gets the KTM logo boldly done up in the centre followed by the ‘390’ decals located a bit lower. The ‘RC’ decal on the other hand takes up space at the lower portion of the fairing, while adding drama are the ‘KTM’ decals in the background. The bike primarily gets a matte black colour scheme running from the front fender to the tank and across the rear seats. What cannot be missed though is the prominent use of orange across the trellis frame and the alloy wheels of the RC 390.
Despite sharing its underpinnings with the Duke 390, the KTM RC 390 gets a radical styling that certainly shouts of the track focused credentials of the bike. The RC 390 will be powered by the same 373.2cc single-cylinder engine producing 43 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque, paired to 6-speed gearbox. The bike rides on Metzeler tyres and gets ABS as standard. KTM has set the official date for launch as 9th September and bookings for the bike have already commenced.
The KTM RC 390 currently competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 in the segment, but will soon lock horns with the upcoming Honda CBR300R as well as the Yamaha R25 and the likes. Being aggressive with the pricing once again, expect the Austrian manufacturer to price the RC 390 around Rs. 2.50 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai), marginally more expensive than the Duke 390 in the country. The RC 390 will be launched alongside the RC 200 which is expected to be priced just under Rs. 2 lakhs.
