The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the world’s fastest production sedan. It is powered by a 6.2-litre V8 supercharged HEMI engine that churns out 707 HP of power and 880 Nm of torque. This is the same unit that powers the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat too. The Charger SRT Hellcat takes just 3.8 seconds to complete the 0-100 km/hr run and top speed is achieved at 328 km/hr. The sedan takes 11 seconds to complete the 1/4th mile run. Dodge claims this to be “the quickest, fastest, most powerful production sedan in the world, as well as the most capable and technologically advanced four-door muscle car in America”.
The Charger actually weighs 45 kgs more than the Challenger but it comes with a 54:46 weight distribution and the extra weight helps the vehicle get a better start. The Challenger coupe takes 11.2 seconds to complete a quarter-mile run while the Camaro ZL1, Viper SRT GTS and Corvette ZR1 take 11.96 seconds, 11.4 seconds and 11.4 seconds respectively. The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and power is sent out to the rear wheels only. The sedan gets two key fobs – red and black. The red key fob turns on the car with full power while the black one limits power to 500 HP.
The Charger SRT Hellcat also gets a valet mode where you can set a 4-digit security code. This mode reduces power and torque and limits engine RPMs to 4000. Traction control, steering and suspension settings are set to “Street” mode and steering wheel paddle shifters get disabled. Drive Mode functions also get disabled while ESC gets enabled to full mode. Launch control also gets disabled. The sedan gets 15.4-inch rotors from Brembo with six piston callipers at the front and four piston callipers at the rear. Pirelli P Zero 275/40ZR wheels are wrapped around 20-inch alloys. The Hellcat also gets some cosmetic enhancements like power-bulge aluminium hood with dual air extractors, unique blacked out front grille, sculpted bumpers, rear diffuser and boot spoiler.
