Mahindra 2-Wheelers’ flagship product the Mojo 300 is all set to make its mark in the hotly contested quarter-litre segment and was recently showcased at a special dealer preview, hinting that the launch is around the corner. Ahead of the official debut expected in the coming months, Motor Vikatan reader Raj Kumar caught up with the Mojo 300 at Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu and managed to snap some images of the bike with minimal camouflage. He also states that the bike testers claimed the top speed of the Mojo to be 148 km/hr.

As seen in the images, the production ready Mahindra Mojo 300 is not any different from the model shown at the Auto Expo earlier this year. Compared to the 2012 prototype, Mahindra has made several improvements on the design with the inclusion of the headlight cowl that features LED DRLs, mild changes to the styling with new air intakes and leaner looking fuel tank and LED tail lights. The Mojo retains the wide handlebar and the analogue-digital instrument console that has been jazzed up with a host of colours. The instrument console houses all vital info like digital speedometer, analogue tachometer, fuel gauge, trip meter, shift light and low fuel indicator.

Coming to the powertrain, the Mahindra Mojo is powered by a 295cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine capable of producing 28 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 25 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM mated to a 6-speed manual transmission (output figures yet to be confirmed for latest Mojo), while fuel is fed through an ECU controlled fuel injection system. Suspension duties are performed by Up Side Down (USD) forks at the front, while the rear features a monoshock setup. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at the front and rear, while the bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Demon tyres.

Competing against the Honda CBR300R, KTM Duke 200, Suzuki Inazuma and the likes in the segment, the Mahindra Mojo 300 will be a value for money offering comprising of decent power and performance at an affordable price tag. As it is with most Mahindra products, expect the pricing to undercut the competition by a significant margin and the Mojo is expected to retail around Rs. 1.5 lakhs (ex-showroom) in the country.
