Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) announced that the manufacturer achieved a milestone of selling 10 lakh Dream Series motorcycles in the Indian two-wheeler market within a short span of just 26 months. Launched with the Dream Yuga motorcycle in 2012, the Dream Series range also comprises of the Dream Neo and the new launched CD 110 Dream motorcycles and have been positioned in the entry-level commuter segment in the market.
On the momentous occasion, Honda also announced the ‘One Million Dream Celebration Offer’ that gives customers free insurance and attractive finance schemes of up to 100 percent loan, applicable only on the Dream Yuga and Dream Neo and can be availed before 31st August, 2014. The Honda Dream Series range is powered by the same 110cc air-cooled engine that is equipped with Honda Eco Technology (HET) for improved fuel efficiency, producing 8.25 BHP of power and 8.63 Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed gearbox.
The Dream Series has had a major impact for Honda in establishing the Japanese automaker’s position in the mass commuter segment that till now has been erstwhile partner Hero MotoCorp’s forte. Since 2012, the company witnessed its market share in the 100-110cc segment grow by 400 percent and has given Honda a significant lead over other mainstream two-wheeler manufacturers in terms of volumes. Honda managed to even overtake Bajaj Auto in terms of motorcycle sales in July and it had already become the second largest two-wheeler maker in India many months back. The automaker is also planning to set up the world’s largest scooter plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
