Scooters seem to be the success mantra for 2-wheeler manufacturers nowadays, with this segment of vehicles being the sole reason for the increase in sales of companies like Honda, Yamaha and TVS. The 110cc scooter segment is seeing an insane amount of action. After TVS launched the Jupiter, the Hosur based company updated the Wego and soon plans to bring the 110cc Scooty Zest to the market (on the 20th of August to be exact). Suzuki’s 80% sales come from scooters and their recent launch, the Let’s has seen quite a lot of positive reviews.
Mahindra started off its 2-wheeler journey with scooters, which have been doing decently well for them. They weren’t present in the 110cc scooter space as only 125cc products were on offer, like Suzuki. But Mahindra is planning to launch a 110cc scooter soon and the same has been spotted multiple times already but with camouflage. Known as G101 internally, Mahindra’s 110cc scooter was recently snapped without any camouflage whatsoever by MotorBeam reader Abhishek Goyal. This scooter seems to take many design cues from the best-selling Honda Activa.
Mahindra recently previewed three products (Rodeo UZO, Mojo and Centuro Disc) to dealers. The company might have showcased the new 110cc scooter around the same time. The product is due for launch anytime soon and we expect an official announcement on the same by the end of the month. The Mahindra 110cc scooter will use a 110cc engine, matched to a CVT gearbox. It is likely to produce 8 PS of power. Expect the pricing of this scooter to undercut rivals, with Mahindra offering more features thereby creating more value.
