Expected to make a significant impact in the MPV segment in the country, the Honda Mobilio will be launched on 23rd July in India as a value for money MPV targeted at large families. The Japanese auto major is in full swing with promotional activities of the Mobilio with the model on display at malls for prospective buyers to checkout before launch. The company has also roped in ace comedian Kapil Sharma for the TVC, explaining the MPVs features in his own quirky style.
Honda will be producing the Mobilio at the company’s Greater Noida plant with localisation levels up to 90 percent. Based on the Brio platform, the Mobilio shares several components with the Amaze and the City inside the cabin as well as the engine options. A host of equipment will also be on offer including a touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity with USB and AUX, reverse camera, alloy wheels and much more.
Powering the Mobilio are the tried and tested petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor from the City produces around 119 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission, while the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine from the Amaze and City will also be used, it produces 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Mobilio is expected to offer more cabin space, features and frugal engine options in comparison to competition. The presence of the Mobilio in the MPV segment is surely going to affect the sales of best sellers like the Toyota Innova and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga while the Mahindra Xylo will be the most affected. Honda India is expecting to see a large portion of its sales coming from Tier II and III cities in the country. The Mobilio will be positioned below the City in Honda’s line-up with prices expected to start at Rs. 6.50 lakhs for the base petrol variant.
