Yamaha FZ-S FI V2 Review

The Rs. 60,000-80,000.- bike segment has always been a battleground of sorts. Filled with very capable products, the segment always sees these bikes fight it out aggressively with each other to win sales. All of them offer similar levels of power, all of them are similar in size and weight and all of them are priced in close proximity to each other. Yet, there doesn’t seem to be a clear winner and we cannot deny the fact that buyers are spoilt for choice and hence are even more confused.

Here, we do a specification sheet comparison of some of the hottest bikes in this segment-

Yamaha FZ V2.0 vs Honda CB Trigger vs Bajaj Pulsar 150 vs Hero Xtreme vs TVS Apache 160

Yamaha FZ V2.0 vs Honda CB Trigger vs Bajaj Pulsar 150 vs Hero Xtreme vs TVS Apache 160

*all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi

Starting off with engine capacities and power on offer, while the FZ, CB Trigger, Pulsar and Xtreme have 149cc engine capacities, it is the Apache which comes with the highest-in-segment engine capacity. The Yamaha is the least powerful on paper since it produces just 13.1 PS while the Pulsar churns out an impressive 15.06 PS. Again, the Apache produces the highest figures at 15.41 PS of power. Moving to torque figures, the Apache produces 13.1 Nm of peak torque while rivals are in the range of 12.5-12.8 Nm.

Moving to size, the Yamaha FZ is the longest here while the Apache is the shortest in length. In width, the Yamaha, Honda, Bajaj and Hero have negligible difference while again the TVS product turns out to be smaller in measurements. Taking height into consideration, there is hardly any difference between the FZ, Trigger, Pulsar and Apache. The Xtreme is the tallest when it comes to height.

All of these bikes offer a good value-for-money proposition. The FZ is the most expensive and the FZ-S will add another Rs. 2000/- to the price tag. The Apache offers the best bang for the buck since it is the most powerful product here. The price that we have mentioned is for the STD version. The Honda CB Trigger may seem a little expensive while the top model of both the Honda and Xtreme comes with dual discs. The Pulsar 150 is the oldest and cheapest product here.
