The production version of the Ciaz sedan (pronounced as Chi-aaz) that will replace the SX4 in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio was spotted testing in China sans camouflage. While the near production ready model made its debut as the Suzuki Alivio concept at the recently concluded Beijing Motor Show, the new spy shots reveal detailed changes that the production spec model will sport.
Unlike other Suzuki models from the past, the production model of the Ciaz sedan stays true to the concept. The production version sports changes to the headlights that feature projector units, while the all chrome grille has been mildly tinkered with. The fog lights have been changed to the regular circular design and gets chrome accents from the concept model. On the rear, the tail light cluster too has been internally restructured, but the overall design remains the same. Completing the look are the trapezoidal shaped dual exhaust tips that also get chrome accents.
The spy shots also reveal the interiors of the Suzuki Ciaz, which till now were a mystery. By the looks of it, the cabin features a premium appearance with chrome bezels on the instrument cluster and brushed aluminium finish on the air-con vents. The interior features a multifunction steering wheel, dual-tone dashboard done up in beige and black, with wooden inserts. The Ciaz will also get parking sensors as seen in the image and is expected to host a range of luxury and safety equipment levels on par with competition as the company claims.
The production spec Suzuki Ciaz measures 4545 mm in length, 1730 mm width and 1475 mm in height and is considerably longer than the SX4. The wheelbase measures in at 2650 mm. Known as the Suzuki Alivio for the Chinese market, the sedan will be powered by a new 1.6-litre G-INNOTEC petrol engine and will be paired to a new 6-speed automatic transmission. India on the other hand will get the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine options and is expected to be launched in July, later this year.
