The KTM Duke 200 and Duke 390 have been very well received by the market and the RC 200 and RC 390 are also generating a great amount of buzz even before getting officially launched. KTM is testing both these bikes and we have come across these pictures of the KTM RC 200 that was being tested in Mahabaleshwar. The RC 200 will be competing against the Honda CBR250R which is among the segment’s best-sellers. It seems KTM is testing the RC 200 along with a CBR250R and using it as a benchmark to test the new bike’s capabilities.
KTM had unveiled the RC 200 at the Milan Motorcycle Show and and it sure looks sexy and can leave the CBR250R biting the dust, at least in the looks department. We are completely sure that many people will buy this bike for looks alone. The RC 200 is very similar to the Duke 200 when it comes to mechanicals like the engine, suspension and gearbox and the only major differences are the new LED daytime running lights, seating position and last but not the least, the fairing. Fully-faired bikes are in great demand at the moment since they appeal more because of their sportier appearance.
The KTM RC 200 will be powered by the same 199.5cc 4-valve engine which uses a single-cylinder and generates 25 PS of power and 19.2 Nm of torque. The bike weighs an additional 8 kgs more than the Duke because of the added fairing. The bike uses a trellis frame, wide tyres and disc brakes just like its naked sibling. KTM is testing both the RC 200 and CBR250R together and comparing them side-by-side to check and adjust various features like handling, high speed stability, rider ergonomics, etc. The KTM RC 200 will be launched worldwide by mid-2014 and the India launch will follow soon. We can expect the RC 200 during the festive season with a price tag of Rs. 1.6 lakhs (ex-showroom).
