Manufacturers in China are certainly an impatient lot. Why wait for a vehicle to come to the country when you can make one yourself. Even before KTM makes its official entry into China, the country already has a ton of clones of the Duke 200 plying on its roads. Chinese two-wheeler maker Zhejiang Jiajue Motorcycle Manufacturing Company Ltd has released its all-new 250cc motorcycle which is nothing but a complete clone of the Duke 200. Apart from the variation in the orange shade, there is very little actually that makes both the bikes look different from each other.
Christened as the ‘C8 Tomahawk’ in China, the motorcycle uses a trellis frame like the Duke 200. The C8 Tomahawk also shares certain mechanical details with the Duke 200 including the USD front forks and a monoshock suspension setup. 300 mm discs at the front and 220 mm disc brakes at the rear are used for stopping. The digital instrument console is also identical to the one found on the Duke 200. The C8 is powered by a 250cc engine and while the specifications of the engine are not available, we reckon the 250cc mill will be tuned to produce around 21-22 HP of power. The motorcycle is available in the Tomahawk R and HOT-S variants.
This is not the first time a motorcycle has been cloned in China. Jiajue’s website showcases its entire range of motorcycles to be a bunch of clones taking inspiration from the Honda CBR250R, Yamaha YZF-R15, Kawasaki Ninja 250 and now the KTM Duke. The company sells a variety of two-wheelers in different segments ranging from 50cc up to 250cc motorcycles. The company also manufactures scooter, e-scooters and e-bikes in the country.
With Bajaj Auto all set commence exports of the KTM Duke 200 and 390 models, the company will surely be in for a shock when they see the clones already on sale in the country.
