Tata Motors showcased the Xenon Tuff Truck concept at the Buddh International Circuit after the completion of India’s premier Truck racing competition. Jointly developed by Tata Motors and its Australian distributor Fusion Automotive, the Tuff truck concept first showcased in 2013 was originally done up for the Australian outback. The Tata Xenon Tuff truck has been created as a one-off lifestyle vehicle that would appeal to true blue off-roader buyers who like to have a dominating presence on the road.
The Tuff truck concept is based on the double cab Xenon pickup truck with the off-roading capabilities for those who like to tread their own path. The Xenon Tuff Truck concept gets an aggressive front bumper with a brushed aluminium skid plate incorporating a winch and tow hooks. The concept gets halogen headlamps as well as LED daytime running lights mounted on the top. The concept also gets an air scoop on the hood, while the snorkel hugged to the A-pillar would help to wade in deep waters.
A rear roll cage has also been provided to keep the truck stable and rigid on rough roads. Completing the off-roading look are the 20-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in off-roading tyres. Being a pickup, the Xenon Tuff truck concept also offers loads of space at the rear to haul your camping equipment as well. The satin grey paint job coupled with the matte black finish around the lower panels only adds to the appeal of the concept. The Tata logo has been done up in a distinctive red, which lends a sporty appeal to the overall look of the car.
Tata Motors has made no modifications under the hood and the concept comes with the 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine that is capable of producing 148 PS of power, sent to all four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. While details are scarce on whether Tata Motors will launch the Tuff Truck concept’s production version; we do hope they provide it as an accessory package on the lines of Mahindra Customisation for Xenon pickup buyers in the future.
