After the success of Ferrari World, the Ferrari themed amusement park in Abu Dhabi, the Italian manufacturer has confirmed that it will open another Ferrari theme park and hotel outside Barcelona in Spain in 2016. The supercar maker has sold the licensing rights of the theme park and hotel to PortAventura Entertainment S.A.U., a subsidiary of Investindustrial that will build the Ferrari Land.
The Ferrari Land theme park will be spread over 75,000 square metres bringing a variety of new and exciting attractions for Prancing horse enthusiasts under one roof. The theme park will also feature Europe’s highest and fastest vertical accelerator. Ferrari Land will also incorporate a Ferrari themed hotel that will be built inside PortAventura resort and will be a luxury 5-star establishment complete with 250 rooms, restaurants and a driving simulator.
Compared to the Ferrari World theme park in Abu Dhabi, Ferrari Land measures one third of its size; the latter being 2 lakh square metres in size. The PortAventura resort currently welcomes 40 lakh visitors each year and is the second-ranked in Europe, while Barcelona is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world. Ferrari Land will see an overall investment of 100 million Euros (Rs. 851 crore) and is scheduled to officially open its gates in 2016.
Ferrari also mentioned that it is looking at a number of options for future amusement parks and is evaluating different proposals for theme parks outside Europe. By just looking at the renderings of the proposed theme park, the 10 year old in you comes back to life. If you are an ardent Prancing Horse fan like us at MotorBeam, you better put Ferrari Land on your ‘Have to Visit’ bucket list after the Maranello factory in Italy and the Ferrari World theme park in Abu Dhabi.
