Suzuki Netherlands has launched a special edition Swift in the country to commemorate the 30th birthday of the hatchback. Termed as the ‘Swift S-Edition’, Suzuki will be producing only 275 units of the special edition model and is priced at 17,499 Euros (Rs. 14.9 lakhs). The Swift S-Edition is available in five body colours with contrasting white stripes on the hood. The roof, rear spoiler and the ORVMs are also done up in white. The special edition gets black side skirts and wheel arches, new 16-inch alloy wheels, a chrome lip on the tailgate, twin-exhaust finisher and an S-Edition badge on the boot-lid.
The interiors have also received comprehensive changes with S-Edition embossed scuff plates, luxury floor mats, sport pedals finished in brushed aluminium, white contrast stitched seats with Swift logo embroidered and a white tone gear shift knob. The special edition is available on the fully loaded variant which gets ABS, EBD, ESP, seven airbags, LED Daytime running lights and cruise control as standard. The Netherlands edition Swift is also powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine which outputs 94 HP and 119 Nm.
The Suzuki Swift is an equally popular car in Europe as it is in India. However, the Indian Swift is due for a midlife facelift and we expect the update to come to our shores in the second half of this year. The updated Swift will get LED DRLs, refreshed interiors, start-stop button, cruise control, keyless entry, new audio system and a new metallic shade added to the palette. Expect a slight bump in the prices as well for the Maruti Swift facelift when launched.
