Nino Custom Cycles is a lesser known name in the custom biking world but surely has the goods to make your jaw drop. The custom bike shop owned by Rohan Nino Puri in Delhi started life as Vintage Auto World restoring vintage and classic motorcycles, providing spares as well. Soon Nino moved from providing spares to building complete custom motorcycles and Nino Custom Cycles was born. His first build, the Troy motorcycle won him lots of compliments at the India Bike Week in Goa this year and showcased the talent he has been hiding away from the world.
Just one look at the Troy and it will surely mesmerize you with its appeal. The bike has been completely hand built including the gas tank, toolbox and fender by Nino Custom Cycles. The tank makes the most striking visual on the motorcycle. It is more angular as opposed to the conventional curve seen on custom choppers and breaks the monotony in the design. However, the tank has its own charm that goes well with the custom chopper. The bike is a cross between the custom chopper and bobber look and manages to pull both the looks with a hint of modernity.
The use of sheet metal has been kept to a minimum and the exposed mechanicals only add to the rustic tone of the motorcycle. The Troy motorcycle uses a 500cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, AVL Royal Enfield engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine has been kept stock and has been mounted on a custom built frame made from scratch by the custom shop. Nino has given the motorcycle a vintage Harley-Davidson style springer front suspension to give the bike a retro look. The handlebar uses an internal throttle system to keep the clean look throughout the bike.
The motorcycle rides on 60-spoke retro wheels at the front and rear imported from the USA. The custom bike rides on a meaty 18-inch, 250 mm wide Avon cobra tyre at the rear with a 21-inch front tyre to complete the custom chopper look. The seat as well has been completely hand stitched in pure leather and continues on the handlebar as well. Completing the vintage look is the yellow headlight and bezel. The exhaust has been modified and cut short that gels well with the design of the motorcycle.
Customizing a motorcycle is a form of art and very few have the tools and talent to create a masterpiece. The next build planned for the custom shop will be a Triumph or a Harley-Davidson and we can’t wait to see another masterpiece come our way.
