It gets a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine with 245 PS and 370 Nm of torque.
The 8th-gen Audi A6 finally hits the Indian market. The new generation receives massive, yet subtle updates and the interior is now in line with the new Audis. The price starts at Rs. 54.20 lakhs (ex-showroom) and comes with a single petrol engine.
The Audi A6 gets a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine which is capable of producing 245 PS of power and 370 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, it is a BS6-compliant unit. The unit is mated to a sporty 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox and is a front-wheel-drive setup.
In the department of styling, the A6 follows a minimal approach, like the rest of their line-up. The front gets a cascading chrome grille and the LED headlamps flank it to further accentuate the imposing look. It also gets massive air damps at the front, with a chrome surround on the upper side. The side profile is austere and devoid of any sharp lines or creases. The rear, however, now receives the new LED taillights, which connect to each other with a thin chrome strip. Moreover, a small lip is present at the rear and features a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior is simply elegant and the centre console’s entirety owes to the dual touchscreens, the Audi’s new MMI system. Physical buttons are almost nowhere to be found. Silver accents, piano-black touch-ups run throughout the cabin. It also gets the virtual cockpit, which is quite standard in their line-up now. The upper screen is for entertainment and vehicle settings whereas the lower screen is for climate control.
The Audi A6 gets a ton of features – Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4-zone AC, wireless charging, drive modes, panoramic sunroof, park assist, ventilated front seats, Bang and Olufsen audio system and a lot more. In terms of safety, it is equipped with 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, ESP, traction control.
The Audi’s new A6 competes rightly with the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E Class. Both the competitors come with a BS6 compliant unit. Although each car in this segment is almost unparalleled in terms of quality, features and refinement – the new A6 might have an edge because of its novelty.
