TVS launched its first Apache last decade, it was a 150. Over the years, a lot of updates have come and while the Apache brand’s biggest rival has been the Pulsar, TVS has been more aggressive than Bajaj off late. The Apache brand can be divided into two sub-brands – RTR which stands for Racing Throttle Response and comprises of street-fighter motorcycles and RR which stands for Race Replica and comprises of full-faired bikes (bike to be precise as there is just one RR in the Apache range). Let’s have a look at the 8 type of Apaches and who should buy what?
1) TVS Apache RTR 160 – For those who are on budget
The Apache RTR 160 is priced at Rs. 78,018/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price of Apache RTR 160 is much lower than newly launched Apache RTR 160 4V which is priced at Rs. 81,490/- (ex-showroom,Delhi). It is still the most affordable Apache available in the market. In spite of being the most affordable Apache, it is still quite powerful. This bike is powered by single-cylinder 159.7cc engine which churns out a maximum power of 14.8 BHP and 13.03 Nm of torque.
2) TVS Apache RTR 160 4V – For those who want the latest design and features
The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V was recently launched this year. It carries the same engine but it gets a 4-valve head instead of 2-valve which produces slightly more power and torque. Design is the latest and similar to its elder sibling, the Apache RTR 200. It gets a lot of features like LED DRLs, dual disc, lap timer, 0-60 km/hr timer, top speed recorder, etc.
3) TVS Apache RTR 180 – For those who want more performance over a 160
The TVS Apache RTR 180 manages to look quite sharp. It is powered by a 177cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces a maximum power of 16.5 BHP and 15.5 Nm of torque which is more than Apache 160 and the price is almost similar too.
4) Apache RTR 180 ABS – For those who want performance with safety
The TVS Apache 180 ABS is similar to the regular Apache 180, only difference is ABS which makes the bike safer. It is a good bike for riders who are seeking performance but can’t compromise on safety. The TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS is priced at Rs. 1,13,765/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).
5) TVS Apache RTR 200 4V R 2.0 – For those who want a VFM performance bike
The Apache RTR 200 was the flagship bike for TVS till the RR 310 was launched. It offers tremendous value for money, looks very sharp, offer lots of features and has very punchy performance. This bike is powered by a 197.3cc engine which generates a maximum power of 20.3 BHP and 18.1 Nm of peak torque. It also gets Anti-reverse Slipper Clutch (A-RT).
6) TVS Apache RTR 200 ABS 4V R 2.0 – For those who want both performance and safety
The TVS Apache RTR 200 ABS gets ABS over the standard Apache RTR 200 but it is available in carbureted version only. Good thing is it gets dual-channel ABS, whereas competitors offer only single-channel. It is a good combination of power and safety.
7) TVS Apache RTR 200 FI 4V R 2.0 – For those who want performance with smoothness
The TVS Apache RTR 200 FI gets a fuel-injection system, except this everything remains the same. Fuel injection makes the bike much smoother when compared to the regular carbureted version. It combines power with smoothness which attracts enthusiasts.
8) TVS Apache RR 310 – For those who need a combination of tourer and track machine
The Apache RR 310 is TVS’ flagship offering which was launched last year.
